Should You Be Taking A CPA Board Refresher Course?

1 comment

Being a graduate of the accountancy course is almost not enough if you will not be able to pass the CPA board exam. Some say that it’s as if you never really graduated from the course. Having these as a source of motivation, a lot of CPA hopefuls take every opportunity to be able to pass even if it means being present in every CPA board exam schedule until he/she would be able to grasp that goal. But then section 18 of the “Philippine Accountancy” act of 2004 says;

“SEC. 18. Failing Candidates to Take Refresher Course. – Any candidate who fails in two (2) complete Certified Public Accountant Board Examinations shall be disqualified from taking another set of examinations unless he/she submit evidence to the satisfaction of the Board that he/she enrolled in and completed at least twenty-four (24) units of subject given in the licensure examination.”

The Act of 2004 also imparted that for purposes of those who are entitled to a conditional credit, for having a grade of 75% or more of at least four (4) subjects, the examination in which the candidate was conditioned together with the removal examination on the subject in which he/she failed shall be counted as one compete examination.

It maybe disheartening to read but let it not stop you from attaining your goal of passing the elusive CPA board exam and as one saying goes, “The reason for failing is not because you lack in knowledge, it’s only because you lack in the preparation”, so prepare and conquer.
